Brandt frost free freezer manual
The chest style freezer is way more energy effiecent. There are only two makers of freezers. Frigidaire and Woods. Anything under a different name is a rebadged Frigidaire or Woods freezer. I vote more manual defrost, upright. Chest freezers are more energy efficient, but they are a pain to organize and find food. The energy savings will probably be offset by food going bad because it got lost in the chest freezer.
I worked at Woods a longtime ago. Every freezer was the same except for the GE. It was a bit different. Not sure if it was better just different. Take the cheapest, chest freezer with the best warranty. Related Categories. How do I fix the temperature control in my fridge? It's a Brandt Apollo frost free combined fridge and freezer. I'm not sure can't find one if it has an appliance code Last week, both the fridge and freezer compartments were warmer than they should be.
After reading the manual we managed to over-ride the freezer by activating the 'fast freeze' switch. This has cooled the freezer well, but the fridge seems to still be too warm. Over the weekend we used the temperature control at different levels to see if this was the problem. This seemed to work slightly, but is back to warm again today!? We have tested the plug socket and the green pilot light is on, also the light in the fridge is working!
Any suggestions on what to do about the temperature would be great. Thank you. The three indicator lights green - power, red - too hot, yellow - fast freeze are all lit up, so the power is obviously on but there is no freezing action, despite activating the fast freeze function.
Your advice please. Many thanks, Jon. This door offers an adequate solution to adapt te freezer with the room layout constraints. Product detail. All just as predicted - masses of ice, even the drain pipe from the fridge frozen solid too. He did break a bit off the polystyrene panel as it was stuck fast in ice, but he just rested them back in like a jigsaw puzzle and everything locked into place on top, so no problems!
All humming away happily again Frances October Came across this site when I was trying to find a local repairer for my Brandt fridge freezer which I thought had given up the ghost as the food was defrosting especially the ice cream which was at the top.
The fridge is now 7 years old. Twice before it has dumped ice at the bottom but still worked fine. This time tho' the food was all defrosting, even though the fridge seemd to be OK.
Like others, I think the door had been left open slightly. Anyway I did as suggested - switched off and defrosted overnight. Now it seems to be working fine. Thanks a lot for the advice. Marion, Scotland September Hi All - I came across this site whilst looking for a replacement for my Whirlpool frost free upright freezer which had stopped working. Seemed to have the same symptoms as the Brandt in this forum so tried the defrosting as you have described - it was a very similar set up - and you've guessed it - it is now working again!
I am very grateful for all the advice here - thanks everyone! Liza from Derbyshire August Will never buy one of these frost free or Brandt makes again, its the bane of my life have to take apart and defrost every months or as others have said it takes on a mind of its own and defrosts all the food!!!! Also makes the loud cracking noises, I'm guessing this is the ice build up!!!
Kerry August Excellent advice given! I emptied freezer, turned it off, applied fan heater for a while, then put it on fast freeze and soon it was as good as new. This really works. April , same thing happened with my Brandt auto defrost fridge freezer four-years old. All it needs is deconnecting for 12 hours.
If you don't want to wait, speed up the defrosting by using a hair-dryer inside at the bottom of the freezer to de-ice the vent. Then reconnect your appliance a couple of hours later Joe from Sheffield April I agree with everything here, the loud cracking and the build up of ice.
Mine has 'given up' three times now. I have not put the white plastic cover back on - just the polystyrene, this lets you see when the ice is building up without removing those plastic clips. It's just given up again and luckily I haven't re-stocked, its running on -5 oC and varying. Time to call it a day! JB March It's too icy in here December Thanks to all for finding a solution to our problem. We discovered a substantial ice build up behind the inner rear panel which was obviously causing the thermostat to believe that the freezer was down to temperature, which of course it wasn't!
However, a defrost later and the freezer fired up immediately. Now does anyone want to talk about flashing amber lights on Dell computers Dave G November I have now encountered the same problem with my Brandt Fridge-Freezer.
There was so much ice that I had problems removing the polystyrene panel which I managed to damage it to a certain extent. I think I should be able to patch it up and will give it a go but I'm a little concerned it will have an effect on the temperature.
